Chlorhexidine Diacetate [1 Gal]

Chlorhexidine based concentrate for use in solution as a post-milking teat dip. When used properly, it helps reduce the incidence of mastitis due to germicidal properties. Mixes with water and glycerin to create a sanitizing and moisturizing teat dip. Available in a scented or non-scented solution. Chlorhexidine Solution is an antiseptic and antimicrobial disinfectant which provides fast-acting activity against a wide range of microorganisms, especially against those commonly found on the skin. Chlorhexidine Solution contains 2% Chlorhexidine Gluconate.

2% Solution. For use in preparation of a 0.5% chlorhexidine diacetate solution for dipping the teats of cows after milking. Mix 32 oz with 6 oz glycerine, then add clean potable water until you have a total volume of 1 gallon. Daily teat dipping should start 1 week before cow freshens. During lactation, teat dip each teat into 0.5% solution immediately after the cow is milked. When the cow is dried off, the teats should continue to be dipped in the 0.5% solution once a day for 3 to 4 days. Dip each teat so that the lower 1 inch of the teat has been covered with the 0.5% solution. Do not use the concentrate as a teat dip.

To prepare 1 gallon of a 0.5% solution for dipping teats: Mix 32 ounces of Chlorhexidine Diacetate 2% with 6 ounces of glycerin. Then add clean potable water until you have a total volume of 1 gallon.

To use: Dip each teat with solution immediately after the cow is milked. Dip each teat so the lower 1 inch of the teat is coated with the 0.5% solution.
